I say bring him back if he wants to play the last 4 games, what would it hurt and I'm sure the money wouldn't be a problem on either side. The Pats need to win their last 4 games to have chance at making the Post Season. He might just be the push to get them there.
And if they do make it, everyone starts out 0-0..... hey you never know.
Marvin Demoff, the agent for linebacker Junior Seau, confirmed that his client was in Foxboro this afternoon and is optimistic a deal will be struck with the Patriots.
“He got a call from (Bill) Belichick yesterday, they talked, and he flew out there to meet with them,” Demoff said. “I haven’t really talked to Junior since he got off the plane, but I expect if nothing changes from the conversation they had last night that he will end up signing a contract.”
The 39-year-old Seau would provide immediate relief to a linebacking corps lacking depth in the wake of Adalius Thomas’s broken forearm and Pierre Woods’ injured jaw.
Seau’s visit was first reported by SportsIllustrated.com.
A board member from the Junior Seau Foundation said today that Seau is in Foxboro, Mass., and speculation is the 18-year veteran could be on the verge of re-signing the Patriots, for whom he started 14 of 27 games the past two seasons.
New England coaches left open the door for Seau, 40, to return at the start of the season, but the sides could not come to terms on a new contract after Seau had offseason shoulder surgery. Seau has spent the past three months exploring business ventures and surfing in San Diego. But he always keeps himself in tremendous shape and as recently as Tuesday night at a foundation event appeared physically capable of suiting up again.
I am pretty sure the roster is at 53. Colvin replaced Webster.
How do they get Seau onto the roster? Is Thomas heading to IR? If Woods' jaw is broken than he might be the one going to IR.
I am excited that he is coming back. Even before he was a Pat he was one of my favorite players to watch in the league. I played LBer through high school and college and Seau was the type of player you watched and thought "man that is the way I want to play the game".
Seau is a football player thats for sure, and he's rested and knows the defense well and should contribute for the remaining games, its still desperation when you have to get a 40 year old from retirement, but I wish him well, and hope the move helps the team.
