When the Wednesday injury report came out, more than a few people noticed the little addition next to Tom Brady's perennial should injury status, this time it was his foot. Brady suffered an apparent sprained foot, which caused him to Miss Wednesday's practice. He returned on a limited basis Thursday and Friday. Despite the injury, Brady was expected to play on Sunday night.
Other names on the injury list this week were OG Stephen Neal (shoulder), DL Myron Pryor (back), S Jarrad Page and RB Fred Taylor.
Taylor told the New England media that he was hopeful of returning to the lineup this week after missing the last 5 games. It was his first appearance at practice since the injury. Tonight, will not be Taylor's return appearance as he's been ruled out of tonight's game against Pittsburgh.
Neal, Page, Pryor and Taylor have all been ruled out.
Healthy scratches ruled Inactive tonight:
CB Darius Butler, OT Mark LeVoir and OG Rich Ohrnberger.
S Will Allen , WR Antonio Brown, RB Jonathan Dwyer, DL Brett Keisel, OL Chris Kemoeatu , OL Chris Scott, DL Aaron Smith , Charlie Batch (3rd QB)
The big surprise is that Darius Butler has fallen completely off the radar of the Patriots. With a secondary desperately in need of assistance, Butler is a no go. Though there's been little indication that the Patriots have become completely dissatisfied with their former second round pick beyond moving him to the nickel spot in favor of 2009 free agent pickup Kyle Arrington, who has moved to the starting right corner spot in Week 3.
Pryor's absence puts pressure on the rotation on the Patriots defensive line. To address that issue, New England added Kyle Love to the active roster.
Filling in for Neal will be Dan Connolly at RG, while Logan Mankins holds down his usual spot at left guard. Ryan Wendell and Quinn Ojinaka are also active tonight givnig the team additional depth at the along line position.
