"He got the (SAT) score last week and we were waiting for someone on the staff to clear everything," Walton said. "Kevin is really excited and ready to get going.
"(Louisville) was pretty excited. I know they are looking forward to getting him on campus and getting him in the system. He should be good to go."
With guards Wayne Blackshear out for at least six weeks with a shoulder injury and Mike Marra out for the season with a knee injury, Ware would be a welcomed addition to Rick Pitino's roster. He could join the team Dec. 14, the day after the end of the current semester.
"He could (play) possibly as early as Kentucky," said Walton. "I'd say that looks like a good date from what I'm hearing."
Official UofL Release on Ware's StatusKevin Ware, a 6-4 guard from Conyers, Ga., has met NCAA intial eligibility requirements and will join the University of Louisville men's basketball team in mid-December.
Ware, who signed a financial aid agreement with the Cardinals in June, was denied a waiver and subsequent appeal for admittance in early September. He continued to work on improving his standing and will enroll for the 2012 spring semester. He will join the Cardinals on Dec. 14, the day after U of L's fall semester final examinations.
A first-team all-state selection as a senior last season, Ware averaged 13.2 points, 4.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 steals in helping Rockdale County High School post a 26-6 record and finish as the Georgia 4-A state runner-up.
