It didn't take long for the new California football uniforms to start making the rounds of some of the Bears' high-profile recruiting targets, and on the East Coast, the son of a former NFL star got his first look on Wednesday afternoon.
"Oh yeah, I like it; that's nice," said Baltimore Gilman School defensive back Troy Vincent. "I actually like that secondary logo. I really like that."
One of Vincent's lifelong friends -- Hardy Nickerson, Jr. -- was one of the four players chosen to model the uniforms, sporting the all-gray look while Freddie Tagaloa went full-banana, Brendan Bigelow in all-white and Nick Forbes in the all-blue.
"It doesn't bother me any," Vincent said of the addition of a gray uniform. "It doesn't change what I think about a school, but at the same time, I like it. It's cool."
Vincent was also taken with the sublimated bear logo within the numbers.
"The program is trying to take a different direction, and that you can be a player on a team that swag that we all want," Vincent said of the re-design.
Of course, uniforms weren't the only order of the day for the four-star cornerback. He's also been speaking with defensive coordinator Andy Buh more frequently as of late.
"I actually talked with coach Buh twice this week," Vincent said. "We were catching up and setting up another visit."
When will Vincent be making his next trip out to Berkeley?
"I think when they play USC," said Vincent. "That'll most likely be my official."
