2013 draft picks:
1st round (18), 2(47), 3(80), 4(114), 5(151), 6 (285)

The big off-season news wasn't what Dallas did or didn't do in free agency. Rather, it was they signed their much maligned franchise quarterback to a mega long term deal, committing the Cowboys with Tony Romo for a very long time. It's a big bet on a guy that has yet to win a playoff game.

Meanwhile, Dallas has a mediocre at best offensive line and they are transitioning from a 3-4 to a 4-3 defense in Big D under Monte Kiffin. They don't quite have personnel for the scheme so the draft will be interesting with holes on the offensive front and finding players for their new scheme.

In free agency they lost wide receiver Kevin Ogletree, cornerback Mike Jenkins, and backup linebacker Dan Connor. Dallas also signed outside linebacker Justin Durant and safety Will Allen.

Draft Needs
1) Interior Offensive Front
To be honest, the Cowboys need help from left to right, right to left, however you want to phrase it. But the primary concern is their interior. They have to pray that either Jonathan Cooper or Chance Warmack fall to them at No. 18 in the first round. There's a real good chance that both players will be gone. If that happens does Dallas go get a right tackle or start addressing needs on the other side of the ball? With only six picks in the draft one would hope that at least two offensive linemen are selected by the Cowboys. Upgrading guard or finding a guard/center combo guy is a must. You spend all that money on Romo now protect that investment.

2) Defensive tackle
In order for Kiffin to properly run his defense he has to have his kind of three-technique defensive tackle. Someone quick, disruptive and athletic. They are not easy to come by. Jay Ratliff will be asked to be that guy but can he really be that guy? Sheldon Richardson would be ideal but it's highly doubtful he will be available. Kawaan Short is a guy that they could grab in round two, maybe even round three.

3) Defensive end
The Cowboys need to find someone to play opposite of DeMarcus Ware. They need a true 4-3 defensive end. There will be a handful of possibilities in the second and third round that should be there for Dallas like Alex Okafor and Sam Montgonery.

4) Defensive Back
Dallas needs help at both safety and cornerback with safety being more of a priority. They will be looking for secondary players that excel in zone coverage.

5) Linebacker Signing Durant will help on the outside. This is a position that the Cowboys will likely address in the mid-to-late rounds.
