Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has been arrested, according to multiple reports. A video of the arrest appeared on the NFL Network, showing Hernandez being taken into custody in handcuffs by two law enforcement officials, while wearing a white t-shirt and red shorts.
At the moment, it's unclear if Hernandez was arrested for obstruction
of justice, which was what he was reportedly going to be arrested for a
few days ago, or if the charge is something greater.
Reportedly, Hernandez destroyed his home surveillance system and turned
over a broken cell phone to authorities, which would be a reason police
would want to charge him with obstruction of justice.
All of this stems from the body of 27-year-old semi-pro football player
Odin Lloyd being found in a park near Hernandez's home, and close to a
rental car registered in Hernandez's name. Hernandez has stayed quiet
on the investigation since his name has been linked.
Just over a day ago, Hernandez's attorney, Michael Fee, issued a
statement claiming there were falsified media reports, including an
arrest warrant for his client. That warrant has apparently been carried
out since Fee's assertion there wasn't one.
