Game Balls & Goats: Week 10 Steelers

Who did well and who didn't? We hand out our awards for Sunday's game.

1)  Tom Brady -- 22 of 33 for 432 yards 4 TDs 0 INTs and a 151.8 passer rating.  By far Brady's best outing of the year.

2)  Stevan Ridley -- 26 carries for 115 yards and a pair of TDs.  Ridley ran hard, ran in control, and his stretch over the goal line for his second TD was all effort.  He may have lost a ball to Troy Polamalu, but that didn't stop the team from letting Ridley do what he does well, ground and pound.

3) Rob Gronkowski -- Perhaps Gronk's defing play wasn't a hug catch deep, wasn't his touchdown, but was defined by a 3rd and 7 catch in the third quarter, when Gronk dragged his defender for an extra yard to get 8 on the play.  Three plays later the Patriots put the game out of reach, going up 41-24. That physicality is what the team needed at the position.

Honorable Mentions: (too many)
Aaron Dobson -- career day,  5 (of 9)  receptions for 130 yards and two TDs.

Danny Amendola -- 4 receptions on 4 targets for 122 yards and a TD

LeGarrett Blount -- 5 runs for 47 yards (9.4 avg) and a TD. His final score, he willed the team to victory refusintg to be tackled.

Defense -- though they gave up yards, Andre Carter 1 sack on his teturn, Chandler Jones 2 sacks, Dane Fletcher a sack, Duron Harmon an INT, Devin McCourty an INT

Julian Edelman -- heck of a return

1)   Ridley's Fumbling Issue -- this is a problem that doesn't seem to be going away for the Patriots' leading back.  He's continued to give away the ball at inopportune times.

2)   Injury Bug -- the Patriots struggle to keep players healthy.  Steve Gregory (thumb) and Rob Ninkovich (foot) both went out with injuries against Pittsburgh, though Gregory's seemed to be more serious.  Newly acquired WR Austin Collie suffered a knee injury.

3)Kenbrell Thompkins -- a healthy scratch?  It is a bit of a disappointment that Thompkins wasn't suited up to play against the Steelers in a game where the Patriots needed multiple three and four receiver sets.

Dishonorable Mentions:
Steelers defense -- what was that?
