Hayes to USC

USC lands a surprise commitment from Orchard Lake St. Mary's 2016 linebacker Daelin Hayes, who talks about his decision here.

Daelin Hayes took his first visit out to USC this weekend, and in the process, picked up an offer from the Trojans. The four-star linebacker saw enough from the trip to jump on that opportunity and he committed over offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame and many others.

"The trip was flat out amazing from start to finish, he said. "It's overwhelming with great things to do, great people to meet. I love this school and I am fully committed."

"It wasn't exactly planned," the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Hayes continued, "but over the last few days, it became completely apparent to me these last few days."

Hayes took the trip with his family and felt like he found a second family on the West Coast.

"The most impressive thing aside from the sight-seeing was the genuineness of the coaching staff. I feel as if it's a family atmosphere and I'm comfortable with them."

While the campus is a long way from Michigan, the visit also made Hayes and his family feel as though the distance was not an issue.

"My mom is comfortable with the distance along with myself, but she'll still be at every home game."

Fans have already questioned if the commitment will stick for two years, especially with many schools closer to home continuing to recruit Hayes, but he has a very simple message for anyone questioning if he's fully on board.

"My commitment is a marriage. You don't continue to date once you're married."
