The last time we saw Ryan Lindley, he was having a ROUGH playoff game in Carolina versus the Panthers. Today, according to Field Yates of ESPN, he was signed to be the third strong quarterback in New England, a move that needed to be made with the uncertainty still facing Tom Brady.
Lindley, 26, will be joining his third NFL team. He was selected in the 6th Round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Cardinals, and was released after two seasons. He signed with the Chargers and ended up on their practice squad, but in November of 2014 the Cardinals came calling again because they had injuries galore at the quarterback position.
Lindley started the Cardinals only playoff game last season, finishing the day 16-28 for 82 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. It was one of the worst performances in NFL playoff history (the Cardinals 77 yards of offense were the lowest in NFL playoff history.)
As we've stated before in regards to Matt Flynn, if the Brady suspension is overturned, Lindley will not be on the roster. The Patriots typically carry two quarterbacks; Lindley could find himself on the practice squad.
