Live Blog: Patriots vs. Steelers

The Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots raise their 4th banner in a celebration from Gillette. There is still a game to focus on as the Patriots welcome the Steelers to Foxboro for a possible September shootout.

8:15- 15 minutes until the kickoff of the 2015 season. The Patriots begin their quest to win back-to-back Super Bowls, a feat they accomplished in 03-04. Tom Brady looks ready to have a big night.

8:34- Foxboro is rocking tonight as the 4th Banner is unveiled.

8:41- The Steelers will begin the season on offense. We get out first look at the revamped Patriots defense.

8:50- Pittsburgh ran the ball at will to start the drive and looked like they would score easily, but the Patriots defense tightened up, forced the field goal attempt, and newly acquired Josh Scobee missed.

8:58- The Patriots looked great to start the drive, but Brady missed a wide open touchdown to Amendola and the drive fizzled out quickly.

9:03- Good defense by the Patriots and the offense takes over. Apparently the Steelers headsets started playing the Patriots radio broadcast, so there is an uproar about that. Seriously, will this crap ever stop? I'm sure there is an explanation for what happened; enough is enough.

9:21- Touchdown, Patriots! New England with a strong drive, especially Julian Edelman, who converted a huge third down and made other big plays to setup a Rob Gronkowski 16-yard touchdown catch. Patriots 7, Steelers 0

9:30- Malcolm Butler with strong coverage on Antonio Brown forces another field goal attempt, and Josh Scobee missed again. The Steelers have been a bit snakebitten at kicker since training camp started. Patriots 7, Steelers 0

9:38- Touchdown, Patriots! Excellent drive by Tom Brady and the Patriots. Dion Lewis made plays in the running game, Danny Amendola, Julian Edelman, and Rob Gronkowski made plays in the passing game, and Brady is simply on fire. Gronk with his second touchdown catch tonight makes the score New England 14, Pittsburgh 0

9:56- The Steelers finally get on the board with a 44-yard Josh Scobee field goal, but they could have easily scored a touchdown. Pittsburgh has shot themselves in the foot all night and that is why they are down 11. Patriots 14, Steelers 3

10:18- Touchdown, Patriots! Tom Brady, Dion Lewis, and Julian Edelman put on an offensive clinic that was capped by a one-yard touchdown catch by Scott Chandler. Patriots 21, Steelers 3

10:28- The Steelers match the Patriots and go 80 yards on seven plays for a touchdown. Pittsburgh also converted a two-point conversion to make the score Patriots 21, Steelers 11

10:36- Pittsburgh gets the stop they needed and will now have a chance to make this a one score game. Dion Lewis has looked great tonight; they might want to try running a screen with him in the next series. Patriots 21, Steelers 11

10:51- The Steelers got all the way to the Patriots one yard line, but a false start pushed them back to the six and the Patriots forced yet another field goal. Pittsburgh needed a score, but they clearly wanted seven instead of three. Patriots 21, Steelers 14

11:03- Touchdown, Patriots! Rob Gronkowski puts on a show that drive and makes his third touchdown catch of the night. Tom Brady now has four touchdown passes tonight. Patriots 28, Steelers 14

11:12- The Patriots defense comes up big, forcing a three-and-out with just over eight minutes to go in the game. Brady and the offense will look to put this one away.

11:41- The Steelers pick up a cheapie at the end to make the score look better, but it's not enough as the Patriots win the opener.

Final Score- Patriots 28, Steelers 21
