11:36- New England is looking to extend their record to 8-0 today when the Redskins come to town for a Sunday afternoon showdown. Let's take a look at the inactives for today's game.
Patriots inactives- LB Jamie Collins, WR Keshawn Martin, RB James White, DE Trey Flowers, DE Jabaal Sheard, OT Marcus Cannon, and G Tre' Jackson
Redskins inactives- WR Rashad Ross, QB Robert Griffin III, C Kory Lichtensteiger, NT Terrance Knighton, DL Frank Kearse,TE Anthony McCoy and CB DeAngelo Hall.
1:00- The Patriots offense opens the game with the ball and will get their first look at the Redskin defense, a defense that is missing their top conrerback, DeAngelo Hall.
1:12- Touchdown, Patriots! Julian Edelman makes the catch and takes it into the end zone from eight yards out, capping a 13-play drive in which the running game and the passing game looked very balanced, like we discussed in the preview. Dion Lewis dropped what would have been a 35-yard touchdown pass on 3rd-and-2, but Belichick went for it and it paid off. Including the Edelman touchdown, Brady was 6-8 for 46 yards. Patriots 7, Redskins 0
1:16- Onside kick recovered by New England! The Patriots take over at their own 45. Belichick loves throwing curveballs, and their is the first one of the day.
1:20- Fumble, Patriots. Julian Edelman made the needed catch on third-and-six, but he was stripped and the Redskin offense will take over at the Patriots 26. What appeared to be an onside kick that would lead to points is spoiled by a lack of ball security. Patriots 7, Redskins 0
1:23- Interception, Patriots! Logan Ryan comes up with the Pierre Garcon deflection and the Patriots take over at the Washington 29.
1:29- Touchdown, Patriots! LeGarrette Blount takes it in from five yards out on 3rd-and-one and New England has a two touchdown lead with just over three minutes to go in the first quarter. The Redskins offense desperately needs a scoring drive or this game is going to get very ugly before we even get to halftime. Patriots 14, Redskins 0
1:34- Three-and-out for the Redskins offense, but it really had nothing to do with the New England defense. Two drops by the Redskins forced them off the field and now the Patriots offense will have a chance to go up by three scores. This is the Redskins worst nightmare; they needed to play well just to compete and they're playing terrible. Patriots 14, Redskins 0
1:41- Interception, Redskins. Tom Brady with a bad throw and Keenan Robinson with the big play to keep the Redskins in the game. That is the play that Washington needed.
1:49- Gutsy call by the Redskins to go for it on 4th-and-11, and the throw was there, but Pierre Garcon dropped it again and the Patriots offense takes over at their own 36. Patriots 14, Redskins 0
1:59- Field goal, Patriots. Stephen Gostkowski connects from 21 yards out and the Patriots take a three score lead. Obviously they would have liked to score and touchdown there, but the Redskins defense is stepping up in the red zone and giving them a chance to stay in the game. Patriots 17, Redskins 0
2:18- Dustin Hopkins connects from 23 yards out and the Redskins are finally on the board. Considering that New England has moved the ball up and down the field, being down 14 at the half is a victory for Washington. Patriots 17, Redskins 3
2:36- The Redskins start with the ball and they'll try and cut into this two touchdown lead. Sebastian Vollmer is done for the day with a head injury, a huge loss for the Patriots offense.
2:40- Fumble recovered by New England! Rob Ninkovich comes up with the ball and the Patriots offense will take over at their own 42. Washington converted on a huge third and long but once again screwed it up with the turnover. Let's see if this banged up offensive line can protect Tom Brady.
2:47- Field goal, Patriots. Stephen Gostkowski The Redskins stepped up and stopped the Patriots at the goal line and Belichick opted to take the points rather than trying to go for the touchdown. The Patriots offense is definitely feeling the effect of the banged up offensive line; Brian Stork is now playing right tackle. Patriots 20, Redskins 3
2:55- Three-and-out for the Redskins and the Patriots defense gets the ball back to Tom Brady and his crew. Let's see if the Patriots can finally get the offense clicking in punch in a touchdown.
3:00- New England ran a screen play to Dion Lewis on 2nd-and-20 and he took it for 14, but he appeared to badly injure his ankle/foot in the process. Lewis did walk off, but that looked awkward. On 3rd-and-six, Tom Brady couldn't make a play and they were forced to punt. The Redskins defense has played great today. Patriots 20, Redskins 3
3:06- Good defense by the Patriots as they force another three-and-out; Kirk Cousins made a terrible throw on third-and-seven. The Patriots offense needs to get on track, put together a drive and score a touchdown. It's time to run the ball.
3:22- Touchdown, Patriots! Brandon Bolden hauls in a 18-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady and the Patriots extend their lead to 24. With 11:28 to go and up four scores, it appears the Patriots are well on their way to 8-0. Patriots 27, Redskins 3
3:31- New England forces the Redskins offense off the field again and the Patriots offense will take over with 9:15 to play.
3:43- The Patriots offense takes a few minutes off the clock before punting the ball back to Washington with four minutes to go. The Patriots will extend their record to 8-0 and the Redskins will drop to 3-5. Patriots 27, Redskins 3
3:57- Touchdown, Redskins. Washington picks up the meaningless score to at least make the score somewhat respectable. Patriots 27, Redskins 10
4:00- That'll do it here from Foxboro as Jimmy Garoppolo takes a knee and runs out the final 24 seconds. Thanks for joining us today and be sure to join us again next week when the Patriots head to Metlife Stadium to continue their NFC East tour with a battle against the New York Giants.
FINAL SCORE: Patriots 27, Redskins 10
