Lombardi Leaving Patriots Front Office

Patriots assistant to the coaching staff and former Cleveland Browns GM Mike Lombardi has stepped down from his position. It was reportedly an amicable split, but it is a blow to the team because Lombardi was well respected within the organization.

The Patriots will no longer have the services of longtime NFL executive Mike Lombardi as the team announced he has stepped down from his position and will be no longer working for the organization.

Here is a tweet from Mike Reiss, who broke the news:

The move is said to be amicable, but one never knows how these scenarios go down. Lombardi also has a background in the media too, and many executives and coaches go the media route because it's considerably less time at the office and the pay is typically better. There have been rumors that Lombardi will be joining Bill Simmons on his new show, but again those are just rumors for now.

Lombardi joined New England after being fired by the Cleveland Browns in 2014. His loss will definitely be felt by the organization, specifically by Bill Belichick. Belichick had multiple jobs that Lombardi would perform, and Lombardi was also one of the select few in the war room too. Lombardi is sure to land on his feet somewhere, and he can be proud of being a part of the 2014 Super Bowl Champion Patriots.
