Patriots Place Seven Players On PUP List

The Patriots placed seven players on the PUP list before the opening of training camp on Thursday.

With training camp just a day away, the Patriots are taking final steps top be prepared for Thursday. The first order of business was determining who was ready to take the field and who needed more time to recuperate after injuries last season and offseason surgeries.

Here is the list:

Danny Amendola- WR

Julian Edelman- WR

Dion Lewis- RB

Clay Harbor- TE

Sebastian Vollmer- RT

Tre' Jackson- G

Shaq Mason- G

Needless to say there are some very important players on this list, but it is important to remember that their health has to be on point or they won't be around for the duration of the season, so it makes sense to take it slow. Dion Lewis, who is still recovering from an ACL tear last season, may need the most time considering it typically takes a full year for a torn knee ligament to heal. Edelman clearly came back when he was hurt last year (left foot) so it also makes sense to get him as much rest as possible before the year begins. Amendola hurt his knee and ankle last year, so like the aforementioned two, he needs to take as much time as possible.

Players can be removed from the PUP list at any time, and with some of the injuries being unknown, we could start seeing them return to the field sooner than later.
