Ninkovich Tears Triceps, Out Until October

Patriots defensive end Rob Ninkovich had to leave practice with an apparent arm injury this morning, and the MRI has revealed that he has a torn triceps muscle that will keep him out until at least October.

Today was not a great day in Foxboro from an injury standpoint, but at least there is clarity to the situation now. Julian Edelman may have escaped major injury, but unfortunately Rob Ninkovich wasn't so lucky. Ninkovich, who at the age of 32 is bound to start breaking down, tore his triceps muscle. That's the bad news; the good news is he didn't tear it bad enough to cost him the entire season, but he will be out until at least October.

The fact that he didn't tear the tendon is huge, so expect to see Ninkovich back right after Tom Brady. Ninkovich will most likely begin the season on the PUP list, which would allow him to return in Week Six. The Patriots have strong depth in their front seven, but Ninkovich, even at his advanced age, is a playmaker that will be missed, especially after the offseason trade of Chandler Jones.
