Brissett To Start, Garoppolo Inactive

Jacoby Brissett will get his second straight start as Jimmy Garoppolo will once again be inactive with a shoulder injury. Brissett has a game under his belt against a good defense, so he should be able to do more in the passing game today.

Jimmy Garoppolo was expected my many to return this week, but his injured shoulder just isn't quite ready, so Belichick and Co. will go with the rookie, Jacoby Brissett. Brissett is battling an injury of his own (thumb) but he is ready to go and the Patriots will see if they can win their second game in a row with a rookie, fourth overall.

Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report the news:

Julian Edelman as the backup quarterback is a scary scenario, but this team has won with special teams, defense, and the running game in the past (as in last week) and they can do it again against a questionable Buffalo team. Brissett should have a little more freedom in the passing game after having his first start under his belt.

The Bills didn't think they would know the starter until gametime, so this must be a pleasant surprise for Rex Ryan and his staff.
