Live Blog: 2017 NFL Draft, Round One

The Patriots currently don't own a first round pick, but that isn't going to stop us from the live blog! Stay tuned because the Patriots could trade back into the action tonight!

Welcome the the 2017 NFL Draft Live Blog! The Patriots currently have zero picks tonight, but that could change quickly if they decide to move either Malcolm Butler, Jimmy Garoppolo, or possibly trade next year's 1st rounder to get into the action tonight. Either way, 32 young men will see their dreams come to fruition tonight, which is just awesome to watch. Stay with us as we provide the picks and analysis.

  1. Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M - Browns make the smart pick, take best pass player in the draft.
  2. Chicago Bears (trade w/49ers): Mitchell Trubisky, QB, North Carolina - Seriously? Why? Why sign Glennon & draft Trubisky? Dumb.
  3. San Francisco 49ers: Soloman Thomas, DE, Stanford - 49ers get a talented player, but it is not a position of need. Lynch drafts a fellow Cardinal.
  4. Jacksonville Jaguars: Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU - Jags get a stud running back, but taking a RB in the top 10 is always a gamble.
  5. Tennessee Titans: Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan - The Titans draft the best wide receiver in the draft, giving Mariota another weapon.
  6. New York Jets: Jamal Adams, S, LSU - The Jets just got the steal of the draft so far. Adams is going to be a Godsend to a team that has to deal with New England twice per year. The Jets never thought he'd be available at six.
  7. Los Angeles Chargers: Mike Williams, WR, Clemson - Talented and productive receiver with great size will give Philip Rivers another big target. Williams has a chance to be very good right away because he has a good, veteran quarterback.
  8. Carolina Panthers: Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford - Versatile back out of Stanford will be a huge addition to a Panthers offense that simply doesn't have enough playmakers for Cam Newton. Great pick, great fit.
  9. Cincinnati Bengals: John Ross, WR, Washington - Great speed, and the Bengals offense was inept after losing Sanu and Jones in 2016, so this pick makes sense. Andy Dalton is happy to have another weapon, one that ran a 4.22 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
  10. Kansas City Chiefs (trade w/Bills): Patrick Mahomes II - The Chiefs trade up for the best quarterback in the draft, in their opinion, and they have the eventual replacement for Alex Smith. Mahomes will have time to learn under Smith, which is a good for his development.
  11. New Orleans Saints: Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State - The Saints flirted with Malcolm Butler, but they end up with the best cornerback available in the draft at 11, so they won't have a need for Butler now.
  12. Houston Texans (trade w/Browns): DeShaun Watson, QB, Clemson - The Texans trade up & draft the quarterback that I believe is the best in the draft. He's going to the right place- they have a strong WR corp and a head coach that is good with quarterbacks. Great move for the Texans.
  13. Arizona Cardinals: Haason Reddick, LB, Temple - Compared to super-athletic Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier, the Cardinals draft the top linebacker in the draft. He's going to take time to develop, but he's battled hard to get where he is and won't stop.
  14. Philadelphia Eagles: Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee - Philly gets themselves a stud defensive end that is most likely going to make an immediate impact in 2017. He doesn't have ideal size, but his production is second to none.
  15. Indianapolis Colts: Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State - The Colts continue to add to their defense, this time drafting an athletic safety that will need some time to develop. He has a very high ceilingbut he doesn't have a ton of experience.
  16. Baltimore Ravens: Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama - Seems to have the speed and skills to succeed in the NFL, but some scouts worry about him getting beat when he shouldn't, which could happen more in the NFL. He has been compared to his new teammate, Jimmy Smith.
  17. Washington Redskins: Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama - Great pick for the Redskins at 17, and they improve an area of weakness in their defense.
  18. Tennessee Titans: Adoree Jackson, CB, USC - The best athlete in the draft is headed to Tennessee. The Titans could use him on offense too, he is that talented.
  19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: OJ Howard, TE, Alabama - The Bucs have had quite an offseason on offense, adding DeSean Jackson and now OJ Howard, the most talented tight end in the draft. Tampa did not expect to see Howard at 19, and they pounced on him.
  20. Denver Broncos: Garett Bolles, OT, Utah - Bolles is a great story; he turned himself around after some tough teen years to become one of if not the best tackle prospect in this draft. Terrific feet, has the ability to become a Pro Bowler.
  21. Detroit Lions: Jarrad Davis, LB, Florida - Fast linebacker that can help fill a need in the Detroit defense. The Lions needed help at linebacker, so having Davis available helps them immediately.
  22. Miami Dolphins: Charles Harris, DE, Missouri - Good pass rusher that uses speed more than size to get to the quarterback. Playing against New England and trying to slow their offense down, it makes sense to load up as much as possible on defense.
  23. New York Giants: Evan Engram, TE, Mississippi -  Good athlete, great production, and he is probably going to continue to get better. The Giants have had a revolving door of mediocrity at tight end over the last few seasons, so they're hoping Engram can produce like he did in college.
  24. Oakland Raiders-
