Patriots Roster Moves and Injury List

With opening kickoff closing in, the salary cap deadline rapidly approaching, and injuries to key players, the Patriots have some big items on their To-Do list.

Here are the official injuries as reported, along with more roster moves and notes for the game.

Team announces injury list along with roster moves

Kevin Faulk (pictured above) will not play tomorrow night against the Indianapolis Colts. He was listed as missing the game due to personal reasons, and the word on him is that he's still nursing a banged up knee. Apparently Faulk was hurt in the third preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.

That leaves just Corey Dillon and Patrick Pass as the active roster RBs.

The Injury List:

OUT: Faulk
Questionable: WR Troy Brown (knee)
Probable: QB Jim Miller(shoulder), QB Tom Brady (shoulder), TE Ben watson (knee)

Roster Moves:

Added: S Russell Stuvaints (Pittsburgh)
Released: WR Michael Jennings

With only two RBs on the active roster, look for the team to activate either Kory Chapman or Malaefou Mackenzie in the reserve roll for Thursday's matchup. This may be where the experiment of Dan Klecko at FB begins to take shape.

Troy Brown's injury in preseason punt return duty may have the team rethinking how it handles return duties this season. It's possible fellow WR Deion Branch or DB Tyrone Poole will assume Browns duties until he returns.

Salary cap crunch is due Wednesday. All NFL 2004 contracts must be under the league's $80.5 million salary cap by the deadline today, or players will need to be released. The Patriots were precariously close to the cap, which is one of the issues involving Ty Law and his contract negotiations.

Tomorrow nights game against the Colts will be broadcast on ABC at 9:00pm Eastern.
