Watch List: Patriots Add a RB UDFA

According to our sources, another MAC product is coming to Foxboro. This time in the form of a Running Back. It doesn't sound like he's happy Clarett got picked ahead of him.

According to the Huntington Herald-Dispatch, Marshall RB, Earl Charles agreed to join the New England Patriots right after the Draft ended.

According to the Paper, Charles was upset that Clarett was drafted before him.

"He's a guy that's been out of football for two years and he played about a half season at Ohio State," Charles said.

Charles will team up with the other running backs on the roster; Corey Dillon, Patritck Pass, Kevin Faulk and Cedric Cobbs. He will compete for one of the roster spots as a reserve back.

Earl Charles School: Marshall
Ht: 5-10 Wt: 206 40: 4.65 Year: 4Sr

Bio: Junior college transfer who made an immediate impact at Marshall. Posted 177/824/5 as a senior after 241/1,578/19 the prior year. Has added 37 receptions the past two seasons.

Positives: Tough, inside-running ball carrier who combines vision and instincts to get the job done. Patient, waits for blocks to develop and runs with an aggressive style. Bounces it around piles, drives up the field and picks up yardage off initial contact. Falls forward when tackled and works runs. Carries the ball with good balance.

Negatives: Not an explosive runner that can turn it on or run away from opponents. Cannot immediately change direction or create. Lacks the soft and natural hands as a receiver.

Analysis: A hard working interior ball carrier that does the little things well, Charles lacks the size/speed/ numbers to be anything more than a situational back at the next level.
