Patriots Waive One, Sign Another

The New England Patriots have made a couple more roster moves the first week of training camp. With injuries and lack of depth of some positions, the team has focused on bringing in another defensive lineman at the expense of a wide receiver.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots signed rookie free agent defensive lineman Tom Sverchek today. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The team also announced the release of rookie wide receiver Rich Musinski.

Musinski played in 3 exhibition games for Tennessee. The Titans released him in September 2004 prior to the start of the regular season. He managed one reception for five yards for the Titans.

The team signed defensive lineman Tom Sverchek who originally signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2005. The 6-3, 300-pound Sverchiek was a UC Berkeley student, playing in 36 games. He managed 74 tackles, 8 sacks, a fumble recovery and two pass deflections.
