As reported earlier, TFY Draft Preview has confirmed this SEC lineman met with representatives of the New England Patriots in Mobile, Al. during Senior Bowl week. Get inside for a more in-depth look at this Draft prospect, including his scouting report how he fared against some of the best competition in college.

Mike Degory, the University of Florida center, has been on NFL draft boards around the league. His imposing size, and history as a fixture at center for the Gators, has helped the former 2005 Rimington Trophy finalist stand out at a relatively anonymous position.

Degory had a decent outing at the 2006 Senior Bowl, gathering another accolade from the officials. The SEC crew voted to honor Degory with an award for sportsmanship based on effort. Scouts in attendance felt the former Gator helped himself with his effort, yet lost a little ground due to issues with his technique.

Who is he?

The Florida Gators starting center. Degory played in 50 consecutive games without missing any time due to injury. The talented lineman faced top tier talent around the SEC. The conference includes big names such as Claude Wroten of LSU, Broderick Bunkley of Florida State and Jesse Mahalona of Tennessee. All three are projected to be top 10 talents at their position as ranked by

For more on Degory's week at the 2006 Senior Bowl, here are his practice reports:

Monday Practice Notes: Degory not only played his natural position of center, but also got some reps at guard. Showed a bad tendency to lead with the head, which can lead him to be beat by quicker 1 techniques.

Tuesday Practice Notes: Quite day for the center prospect. Did show some bad habits on a consistent basis. Had a tendency to overset in pass blocking drills, giving up a clean run toward the QB up the middle. Really struggles keeping the arms locked out. The elbows are generally too wide thus taking away the power this large center should display.

Wednesday Practice Notes: Received reps at both center and left guard. Degory fired off the ball low and hard today but still struggled to keep his head up and his elbows inside his body

Thursday Practice Notes: This veteran of trench warfare has not shown the polish a scout would expect. There was no push up the middle when Degory was at the pivot. Continued the bad habit of keeping his elbows wide

Analysis: A highly rated prospect coming into the week, Degory's true potential and play was discovered. Degory struggled most of the week, being beat by most of the defensive tackles. His bad habits will be hard to break and will require quit a bit of coaching. Once highly rated by some, Degory is mid round pick at best.
