-- After spending his first 10 years as a New England Patriot, Adam Vinatieri seems to have adjusted well to wearing the blue and white. Vinatieri, attending the Indianapolis Colt's 3 day minicamp, said that it felt good to throw on a helmet and shoulder pads and start preparing for the 2006 season. He is anxious to do whatever it takes to help the Colts win, whether it is kicking field goals or standing on the sidelines cheering as reported by The Journal Gazette.
-- According to Colt's head coach Tony Dungy, Vinatieri is doing well and will fit in very well with the rest of the team. He has been attending offseason conditioning workouts which has been a pleasant surprise. "Having a kicker spend so much time in the conditioning program and offseason practices is somewhat of a change", reports the Associated Press.
-- Matt Cassel appears to be in position to become the New England Patriot's backup quarterback. Patriot's head coach Bill Belichick was impressed as Cassel with his excellent showing in last years' season finale against the Miami Dolphins. With rookie quarterback Corey Bramlet just beginning his pro career and Todd Mortensen playing in the NFLE, Cassel is the only backup that has had any NFL snaps. The Woonsocket Call reports that Tom Brady is very impressed with Cassel's work ethic and his athletic ability.
-- University of Virginia's Ahmad Brooks and San Diego Charger's Donnie Edwards could potentially be available and help strengthen the linebacker corp of the New England Patriots. Ahmad Brooks will be available for the July 13 supplemental draft while Donnie Edwards, who has had a serious rift between himself and Charger's General Manager A.J. Smith, is expected to be either waived or traded. Brooks wasn't included on the Cavaliers' spring roster due to an off the field incident but was planning to return to Virginia for his senior year. He missed the draft deadline and will enter the supplemental draft. The Boston Herald is reporting that Brooks has already signed with an agent.
