-- The New England Patriots have signed rookie defensive back Willie Andrews. The News Journal is reporting that Patriot head coach Bill Belichick was impressed enough with Andrews' performance during minicamp to go ahead with a four year deal. Andrews played his college ball at Baylor and was drafted by the Patriots in the seventh-round of the 2006 NFL Draft (229th overall).
In more news on Andrews, the Boston Globe reports that Andrews deal is worth $1.65 mllion.
-- The Globe also reports that offensive lineman Dan Stevenson is close to reaching his own four-year deal. The former Notre Dame lineman was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth-round of the 2006 NFL Draft (205th overall).
-- The Philadelphia Eagles have signed two-time Olympic skier Jeremy Bloom to a four-year contract. Bloom played his college ball at Colorado but according to the Associated Press, was unable to continue his career in football after accepting endorsement money for skiing.
Bloom gained notoriety at the winter games for being a two-sport athlete. At the NFL Combine his numbers weren't what he wanted, but the Eagles felt comfortable drafting the diminutive receiver anyway.
