-- After months of speculation, ex New England Patriot cornerback Ty Law has agreed to a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Throughout the off season there have been reports of Law negotiating with New England head coach Bill Belichick. WarPaintIllustrated.com is reporting that Law has come to terms with the Chiefs and a deal could be signed as early as Monday. Law played with head coach Herm Edwards when both were with the New York Jets.
The Kansas City Star reports that Law agreed to a 5-year deal as of Sunday night.
At one point it looked favorable for the New England Patriots to land the free agent Law. The Patriots brought Law to Foxborough for a physical earlier this year. The Boston Herald is reporting that the Patriots failed to match the offer made by the Chiefs.
-- With the loss of wide receiver David Givens to free agency and the uncertainty of wide receiver Deion Branch, the New England Patriots hope that someone will be able to catch on. Rookie wide receiver Chad Jackson is expected to pick up much of the slack and coupled with veteran wide receiver Reche Caldwell, the Boston Herald speculates that the Patriots will be able to recapture the success at wide receiver that they once had.
-- The NFL owners will meet on Monday to parry down a list of about 90 candidates as their search of a new Commissioner continues. A report by ESPN indicates that by the end of the week, the committee will have trimmed the list down to their 'final four'.
-- The New York Jets have signed their sixth-round draft pick, cornerback Drew Coleman along with fourth-round draft pick, running back Leon Washington.
Coleman played his college ball at Texas Christian University while Washington played his college ball at Florida State University.
