Raiders Trade Gabriel to New England

Scout.com has confirmed that the Oakland Raiders have traded wide receiver Doug Gabriel to the New England Patriots. In a shocking turn of events surrounding the Deion Branch situation, New England has made a move to shore up their wide receiving corps.

Scout.com insiders have confirmed from sources close to the situation that the Oakland Raiders have traded wide receiver Doug Gabriel to the New England Patriots for undisclosed terms.

The Patriots who are dealing with the contract holdout of starting receiver Deion Branch and the ongoing injury status of second-round draft pick Chad Jackson needed to secure another target for quarterback Tom Brady. That target is a receiver with four years experience in the AFC West.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Gabriel will add much needed depth to a New England roster filled with fresh faces. Without Branch only one receiver -- Troy Brown -- was with the team last season.

More to come on the Gabriel deal shortly.

Stay tuned.
