Update 4:04pm: Game OVER JETS WIN

Tom Brady drove the Patriots downfield close to FG range but was sacked for a fumble on the last play of the game. Shaun Ellis was able to get around Nick Kaczur to sack Brady and cause the fumble. With only 8 seconds left on the clock, time ran out preserving the Jets 3-point margin of victory.

FINAL SCORE: Jets 17 - Patriots 14

UPDATE 4:00pm: 89-yards to go

The Patriots get the ball back after allowing the Jets to chew the clock up. The Ball is at the New England 11.

The Patriots have a minute and 8 seconds to get the ball into FG range.

31 seconds after the Jets score, New England answers with a 61-yard drive.

Key plays: 33-yard pass to Gaffney along the sideline. Tipped ball caught by Reche Caldwell who then took it in for a TD.

Score: Patriots 14 - Jets 17

Sloppy conditions, and heavy pressure by the Jets force a bad throw by Tom Brady on a dump off over the middle intended for Laurence Maroney.

Four plays later the Jets throw one up for a jump ball in the end zone. Ellis Hobbs had position on the play, but mistimed his jump allowing Jerricho Cotchery to leap for the ball and come down with it in the end zone. Size wins.

Key plays: Cotchery jump over Hobbs.

Score: Patriots 6 - Jets 17

Injury Update: Richard Seymour who was out for an extended period of time was back in during the Jets recent drive. Billy Yates who had his ankle rolled early in the second half is still out. Russ Hochstein has been playing in his spot.

UPDATE 3:30pm: Time Slipping Away

The game continues to be full of sloppy plays, and hard-fought position battles. Quick cuts are virtually impossible in these conditions, as many players have slid to the ground due to poor footing. The penalties against New England have put the Patriots in difficult position to sustain drives.

An illegal formation negated a 26-yard completion that could have put the Patriots in a first down at the Jets 19. Instead, the Patriots were saddled with a first-and-15 from the 50. Ironically, it was Caldwell who was called for the foul and Caldwell who caught the ball.

Key Plays: Ben Watson catch on fourth-and-3. Sack on Brady due to blown blocking assignments on the right side. Slip by Brady on third-and-17 resulting in another sack forcing the punt.

After trading punts the Jets managed to sustain a drive that began on their own 40 yard line to score again. Mike Nugent scores on a 34-yard field goal.

The Jets receivers are getting open. Chad Pennington has thrown a pair of deep balls that if were on target could have been big plays. A Laveranues Coles drop would have been a big completion for the Jets. Coles had a step on Ellis Hobbs on the play, but he let the ball go right through his hands.

Hobbs block of deep ball in the end zone was a nice play by the youngster. His broken wrist, covered in a black cast, was the same arm he used to bat the ball away.

Key plays: False start on second and 3 at the NE 3. Chad Pennington sack on second and 8 forcing the Jets to kick the FG.

Field position is key in the sloppy conditions.

Mike Nugent 34-yard kick is good.

Score: Patriots 6 - Jets 10

Tom Brady 15/20 122 yards
Chad Pennington 8/14 68 yards and 1 INT

Kevan Barlow 9 carries for 42 yards and 1 TD
Justin. McCareins 1 rec 23 yards
Laveraneus. Coles 3 rec 17 yards

Corey Dillon - 5 carries 68 yards
Laurence Maroney - 7 carries 24 yards
Reche Caldwell - 4 rec. 33 yards
Jabar Gaffney - 2 rec. 32 yards

Keys to the Second Half:

-- Focus on getting more pressure on Chad Pennington. He hsasn't been sacked yet and has had too much time to stand in the pocket to find his receivers.
-- Remain focused on preventing the big play. Special teams has been decent with the exception of one play.
-- Get Ben Watson involved. Watson hasn't had a catch in the game yet, and hasn't been the focus of much, if any, plays in the game.

-- Keep attacking the seoncdary - the Patriots secondary is susceptible to the big play, and the Jets have the players to make it happen
-- Get Chris Baker involved. Baker is a playmaker who showed good hands two weeks ago. He may find sicces over the middle against the Pats secondary.
-- Work on creating turnovers - The conditions dictate perfect weather for another turnover. The Jets can create a big opportunity in what may be a low scoring game.

In a sloppy, but effective, 13-play 62-yard drive, the Patriots get more points on the board. Stephen Gostkowski kicks a short field goal to close the gap. The conditions are having an effect on both teams as the field degrades from beating it's taking.

New England was able to overcome a holding call on Nick Kaczur that put the Patriots in a hole back to near midfield just prior to the two-minute warning. Brady led the drive to the Jets 2 yard line that ran out of time.

Ball is good on a Stephen Gostkowski 21-yard FG attempt.

Key plays: 1-yard dive by Heath Evans on fourth-and-one in Patriots territory. Jabar Gaffney 19-yard one-handed grab of a Tom Brady pass over the middle that was thrown behind him. If Gaffney missed, the defender was right there. 15-yard roughing the passer by victor Hobson that overturned a Tom Brady interception. 13-yard pass to Gaffney on fourth-and-3 from the Jets 23.

Score: Patriots 6 - Jets 7

Mike Wright has been in at the left end spot. He missed on one run straight up the middle, then got pushed well out of the hole attempting to spin out of the block. When Jarvis Green was out, Wright got pushed around.

The Jets marched down the field to the score on the Patriots after the Gabriel fumble. 10-plays 81-yards later the run the ball in from the 2 on a Kevan Barlow dive up the middle. 9 runs and 6 passes later the Jets get on the board and on top of the score.

Key Plays: Fourth and 1 QB sneak by Chad Pennington. 2-yard dive on third and goal from the 2 yard line.

Score: Patriots 3 - Jets 7

UPDATE 1:52pm: Turnovers

The Jets had a great return after a mistackle by the Patriots special teams setting up the Jets at the New York 39 yard line.

Pennington overthrew his wide-open receiver downfield giving an easy interception by Artrell Hawkins who played centerfield on the catch.

Two plays later Doug Gabriel coughs up a fumble along the sideline as a Jets defender punches the ball out after a nice catch and run. Jets recover the ball.

The Patriots got the ball rolling by handing it to Corey Dillon who powered through a hole off tackle on the right side to blast downfield for 50 yards. It was the longest run for Dillon as a Patriot.

The Patriots had a first and 10 at the Jets 13, but tree plays later Tom Brady was sacked on a first and goal from the Jets 5 to force a field goal attempt by rookie Stephen Gostkowski.

31-yard FG by Gostkowski is good as the Patriots score first.

Key Plays: Dillon's 50-yard burst to give the Patriots a first at the Jets 23.

Score: Patriots 3 - Jets 0

UPDATE 1:20pm: Back N Forth

Both teams exchanged their first series without doing any major damage to the opposition. The two sides look like they're playing for field position thusfar. The Jets have opted to throw the ball as the Patriots have mixed in a bunch of passes with their runs.

Although Dillon and Maroney have run hard, the Jets defense has looked a lot better against the run that their ranking may portray, that may change as the game moves on, because it's going to be a long day. The Patriots appear to be trying to soften up the Jets defense with some quick passes to get the Jets out of the box.

Personnel Notes: Dan Graham, the Patriots best blocking TE is active today. Russ Hochstein has also returned to the lineup. Ryan O'Callaghan has seen time at the RT spot for Nick Kaczur.

UPDATE 1:00pm: Kickoff

It's a rainy day with balmy conditions in the high 50's. The field conditions will be a factor today with the wet weather slowing things down a little bit. It may be a long day of running pays and short passes as the teams work to maintain possession and move the chains on higher percentage plays.

Keys To The Game:

- Run, Run, Run - last week they went away from it, this week they need to establish it early to get the offense on track.
- Stop the Big pass: Last meeting the Patriots had some blown coverages and/or mistackles. They need to address those two items, and the game will be easier to control.

- Get pressure on Tom Brady - If the Jets give Brady time, it's going to be trouble for their defense.
- Stop the run - obviously if the Patriots key is to run, the Jets have to do everything they can to stop it. With the 30th ranked rush defense it won't be easy.
