Dan Koppen, who missed much of the 2005 season due to a shoulder injury, has bounced back soundly, and the Patriots offensive line improved dramatically with his return. The threat of an improved ground game and better blocking contributed to the Patriots victory over the now 4-10 Texans defense that boasts first-round superstar Mario Williams and defensive rookie of the year candidate LB DeMeco Ryans.
The Patriots were able to grind out 105 yards on the ground to match the Texans 105, but Houston was able to get there on 22 carries vs New England's 38. Koppen was part of the line that allowed Tom Brady to only suffer one sack compared to the 5 he had to endure against Miami the week before.
Although Koppen missed last season's playoff victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars due to injury, he has faced them in the past and offers the utmost respect for the Patriots next opponent.
(On the Win)
"It feels a lot better this Tuesday than it did last Tuesday that's for sure."
(On Jaguars Defense)
"They are a physical group with Marcus [Stroud] and John [Henderson] they're real physical in how they play and can disrupt things. They're really good."
Lots to hear in this interview as Koppen talks about beating the Texans, team's injuries and much more...
