The New England Patriots jumped on the phones late in Day Two of the Draft to reach out to players who would be available after the process was over. PatriotsInsider has confirmed they manage to get three more to agree to terms.
Typically players who deserve to be selected in the late rounds on Day Two of the NFL Draft often go undrafted. While the Draft is in progress later in Day Two, teams typically spend time calling players they want to sign as undrafted free agents.
Because the player is a free agent, some who get calls from more than one team can weigh their options. The New England Patriots were firmly in the mix for a number of free agents, but didn't always get the guys they targeted.
Eagles Insider, our Boston College affiliate reported Monday that BC cornerback Larry Anam signed a deal with the Patriots.
Scout.com reported that Jake Nordin, TE, Northern Illinois was signed Sunday night.
Here are three more players who agreed to join the Patriots as of Tuesday:
Justin Warren, ILB, Texas A&M
Matt Gutierrez, QB, Idaho State
Zach West, DL, UTEP
West's signing has not been confirmed. Often players say they agreed to a deal with a team, but it is usually contingent upon a tryout.
