Minicamp: Evans Talks About Why New England

FOXBORO, Mass. - Wondering why New England is suddenly NFL Nirvana where everybody wants to play? In a Patriots Insider Exclusive, newly re-signed running back Heath Evans provides insight why in his own words.

Patriots Insider Exclusive: Heath Evans tells why he returned to Patriots
By John Ingoldsby

On why he re-upped with the Patriots for two more years:
"I am loving life. My wife and I did not want to be anywhere else. We have experienced a lot in this league over the last six years, and we know when there is a great thing. People always fall into that trap of the grass is greener on the other side, but I actually happened to luck into it when I got here."

On why he came to New England from Miami, when many leave the cold for the warmth:
"I was vice-versa, and even though it's my hometown, I never want to go back. We love it here. I love my team, the coaching staff, and it's a joy to come to work every day. I don't think a lot of people have that opportunity, even in this league."

On why his flexibility remains important:
"Role-wise, you know how things are around here. Everyone's ready for everything. I am taking Troy Brown's role model and whatever I am asked to do I will do to the best of my ability. This is a typical camp, and I have absolutely no idea what we are going to be up to in two days, but hopefully I will be out there a bunch. My thing since I have been here the last two years has been to fill in when I can get in and try to be successful when they ask me to be."

On whether his role may change with Corey Dillon departed:
"I don't know. We still have a stable of backs. There are probably similarities to the backfield last year where we all had our little niches. Role wise, I wish I knew."

On why he is ready for anything:
"You know, that's kind of the way it's been. You look back to my first weeks here and it was all at tailback. I don't ever expect that because we have so many talented guys here. You watch us. There are guys that show up everywhere every week. I wish I knew. I will let you know when I know."

With players like Evans delivering platitudes like above, all Patriots Insider readers now know why New England is heavily favored by just about everybody to win the Super Bowl.
