Patriots Promote Ray Ventrone

The Patriots added one of their practice squad players to the active roster Saturday to deal with the injuries affecting the team. Safety Ray Ventrone was signed to the active roster. Terms of the deal were not available.

FOXBORO, Mass -- The New England Patriots promoted safety Ray Ventrone from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday. The third year defender has been on and off New England's roster the past three years, and could make his first appearance in an NFL regular season game Sunday.

Safety Raymond Ventrone was signed to the Patriots practice squad on September 19, 2007. A little over a month later, the third year player out of Villanova may see his first NFL action when the Patriots play the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound defender could fill in on special teams and in pass coverage Sunday.

Injury Front

Friday's injury report has been updated

Linebacker Eric Alexander and safety Eugene Wilson have been downgraded on the Patriots' injury report to OUT for Sunday's game against the Colts. Alexander did not practice all week with a knee injury. Wilson has been limited in practice with an ankle injury.

Patriots: S Mel Mitchel (groin), and LB Mike Vrabel (shoulder) were limited in practice. TE Ben Watson (ankle) did not particiapte. All are questionable for Sunday's game. QB Tom Brady (shoulder) participated in practice and is listed as probable.

Colts: WR , Marvin Harrison (knee) did not particiapte in practice Friday. LB Tyjuan Hagler (neck), LB Freddy Keiaho (ear), OT Tony Ugoh (neck) had limited practice and were listed as questionable for Sunday's game. OT Ryan Diem (buttock) was listed as probable, he also was limited in practice on Friday.
