Patriots Re-Sign Rader

The Patriots re-signed tight end Jason Rader and released quarterback David Greene Tuesday.

The New England Patriots re-signed former Miami Dolphins tight end Jason Rader to the practice squad on Tuesday. To make room for the 6-foot-4, 270-pound end, New England parted ways with quarterback David Greene.

With injuries mounting, Rader's addition could provide much-needed depth at the tight end position. With David Thomas sidelined for the year, and Marcellus Rivers no longer on the roster, the Patriots need another tight end to backup Ben Watson and Kyle Brady.

Rader was originally signed by New England on September 3, 2007 and placed on the team's practice squad. He was hurt and eventually released on September 30th. Although Rader saw no action with New England, he will likely provide some relief for Brady who has fought injury concerns issues throughout camp and the early part of the season.
