Kevin Faulk of the New England Patriots has been suspended without pay for the teams first regular-season game and fined one additional game check for violating the NFL Substance Abuse Policy.
Faulks suspension for the Patriots' first regular-season game will begin on Saturday, August 30. He is eligible to return to the Patriots active roster on Monday, September 8 following the teams September 7 opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Faulk was caught in possession of marijuana cigars while attending a concert near his home in Louisiana. Faulk claimed that the items found in a coat were not his, and the coat was borrowed. The charges were eventually dropped, and Faulk apologized for putting himself and his team in the spotlight for the transgression.
The team has not commented on the matter.
