Chargers Analysis:

The biggest issue for the Chargers is the absence of WR Chris Chambers who was one of Philip Rivers’ most dependable receivers. Thought the Chargers have some young blood on the roster at the receiver position, Chambers has done more damage to the Patriots defense than any other receiver on the Chargers roster. It will be up to Rivers to find his other targets outside of Tomlinson and Gates who will have more than their share of coverage.

Patriots Analysis:

No Laurence Maroney was something that you should have expected had you read th ebody language or between the lines of Maroney’s comments this week. The former first round Draft pick talked about having “issues.” What those issues led to is the possible benching of the first rounder until he’s resolved them. The other backs on the roster have all outperformed Maroney who appears to be favoring an injured shoulder. By missing this week, it’s possible that Maroney could heal up for the patriots next game – at least that’s what New England’s coaching staff hopes for.

Losing LaMont Jordan is more serious of a blow to the Patriots rushing attack. Jordan leads the Patriots with a 4.4 YPC carry avg and has the ability to gain the tough yards up the middle. With Jordan out of the lineup, it appears the patriots will go for more of a speed package by adding rookie BenJarvis Green-Ellis.

Washington and Alexander – two special teams aces – are out as expected. Look for Gary Guyton and Sam Aiken to replace this pair.
