New England announced the two roster moves earlier today.
Rosevelt Colvin's return is a clear indication that the Patriots needed a body familiar with the system more than they needed just another player. After losing Adalius Thomas, the Patriots were already thin at linebacker. When Pierre Woods left Sunday's game with a mouth injury, the need for another body became critical.
There was some speculation that New England wasn't interested in Colvin after word leaked out of Indianapolis that the former Patriot shared some of New England's defensive secrets with Tony Dungy of the Indianapolis Colts. Dungy credited Colvin for confirming information the Colts had seen on film.
Colvin was released in February 2008, as he tried to return from foot injury that ended his 2007 season early. He signed with the Houston Texans during the summer, but was released prior to the start of the season.
The nine-year veteran spent four season with the Chicago Bears (1999-2002) before joining New England where he spend the past four with the Patriots (2003-07).
Angelo Craig, a University of Cincinnati product. The 6-foot-5, 242-pound linebacker was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the seventh round (244th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. He was released prior to the start of the regular season. He spend a day with the Carolina Panthers before being released again and has been out of football since.
