Scout Sightings: More DBs for the Patriots?

When the Patriots need to rebuild their roster, they like to do it through the NFL Draft. Patriots Insider has confirmed yet another Patriots scout sighting this week. With the end of the season rapidly approaching, will the Patriots focus on defensive backs in the next Draft? We've pinpointed two players they're really interested in.

Patriots Insider has confirmed that the New England Patriots will be in attendance on Saturday (December 20th) for the Eagle Bank Bowl between Wake Forest and Navy.'s NFL Draft analyst Chris Steuber reports that Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Bruce Allen will be on hand as well. For the Patriots, regional scout Frantzy Jourdain is expected to attend.

According to Steuber, the Patriots are extremely high on Wake Forest CB Alphonso Smith and SS Chip Vaughn. "Smith is a small corner (5-foot-9, 190 pounds), but he's a dynamic playmaker at a position the Patriots desperately need to upgrade," Steuber said.. "Vaughn has great size (6-foot-2, 217 pounds) and is strong at the point of attack. Smith will likely be a late first, early second round pick, while Vaughn is moving up draft boards and could ultimately be a late second round pick."

Here is a list of the players they will look at:
