Patriots Add Linebacker and Tight End

FOXBORO -- The New England Patriots announced the signing of two playes on Wednesday; linebacker Tully Banta-Cain and tight end Brad Listorti. Terms of the deals were not available.

The Patriots signed two players on Wednesday: LB Tully Banta-Cain (49ers) and TE Brad Listorti (Jets). Bother players were free agents. Terms of the deals have not yet been confirmed.

The Patriots elected to shore up their linebacker and tight end units by signing two street free agents. The addition of former Patriot Tully Banta-Cain is allows New England to add experience at the linebacker position decimated by injury last year. A former seventh-round pick of New England in 2003, Banta-Cain spent the past two yeas in San Francisco. He played mostly as a reserve linebacker in New England, seeing more playing time when injuries forced the Patriots to make lineup changes in 2006.

Listorti is a former undrafted rookie out of UMASS. He was signed by the Falcons who then elected to let him go. He spent two separate stints on the New York Jets practice squad in 2008.
