North Carolina State running back Andre Brown is scheduled to meet with Baltimore Ravens team officials at their training complex as a local prospect visit.

Brown is a Baltimore native who attended Woodlawn High as a freshman before moving to Greenville, N.C., and developing into a Parade Magazine All-American selection. His mother lives in Baltimore.

"It would be great to come back and play for my hometown team," Brown said in a telephone interview. "I heard Ozzie Newsome speak at the scouting combine and he's a very positive guy in terms of leadership. I know I would have a great experience up there if they draft me. I'm hearing I will go in the second round or the third round, but you never know where that will be."

A 6-foot-224-pound power back with breakaway speed, Brown recently ran the 40-yard dash in a hand-timed 4.37 seconds after registering a 4.47 at the NFL scouting combine. Several NFL running backs coaches attended his campus Pro Day workout.

Brown's NFL stock is rising after a college career where he was plagued by a broken foot that required surgery. He rushed for 2,403 career yards and 21 touchdowns in four seasons for the Wolfpack while sharing playing time with other running backs.

"I'm an every-down back," Brown said. "I'm big, I'm fast and I can catch. I can complement whoever is there in Baltimore with [Willis] McGahee, Ray Rice and Le'Ron McClain. I'm definitely educated on all types of schemes, including the West Coast offense and the spread, and I pick things up very quickly as far as terminology and the playbook."

Besides the Ravens, Brown has upcoming visits with the San Diego Chargers, Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also had a private workout with the New England Patriots and expects to visit New England soon.

"My workouts have been helping me, and my performance at the Senior Bowl really helped me a lot," Brown said. "At my Pro Day, I took advantage of the opportunity. I'm a little bit under the radar, so I'm ready to show the NFL what I can do."

At the scouting combine, Brown registered a 37-inch vertical leap and bench pressed 225 pounds 24 times.

Last season, Brown rushed for 767 yards and seven touchdowns, catching 29 passes for 309 yards and two touchdowns. For his career, Brown has 60 receptions for 540 yards and two scores. (Check out his highlight video on Youtube)

In 496 career carries, Brown averaged 4.8 yards and averaged 20.1 yards on 17 kickoff returns.

Brown has working out in Atlanta at the same facility as Cleveland Brown running back Jamal Lewis, the former Ravens star.

"I'm an old-fashioned guy," Brown said. "I love Walter Payton, how hard he ran. I'm a big back that has speed. I'm looking to make a name for myself."
