According to Navy football sports information director Scott Strasemeier, this is the first time that three members from the program signed NFL deals in the same season. Navy has had players in the NFL previously, but not more than two according to Strasemeier's recollection. In 1998 Chris McCoy agreed to terms with the Green Bay Packers and David Viger signed a deal with the New York Jets. Bill Belichick was the Jets assistant head coach /secondary coach that year.

The New England Patriots have a definite connection to the US armed forces, and that connection just got stronger this weekend.
