Harrison Expected To Announce Retirement

Patriots veteran safety Rodney Harrison has scheduled a conference call with the media for Wednesday morning. After telling the media he would make a decision on his football future by June 1, Harrison is expected to announce his retirement today.

Patriots safety Rodney Harrison is scheduled to hold a conference call 9:00 am Wednesday with members of the media. Harrison, a free agent, is expected to announce his retirement from football after a distinguished 15-year career.

Harrison is expected to confirm his decision to close the door on his football career in order to open one in broadcasting. Known for his vicious hits on the field, and charismatic personality off of it, Harrison was part of NBC and the NFL Network's coverage of the NFL Playoffs in 2008.

Harrison missed 10 games least year due to a thigh injury. It was the fourth time in as many years Harrison's season came to a premature close.

Originally drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the fifth round (145th overall) of the 1994 NFL Draft, Harrison joined the Patriots in 2003. The two-time Pro Bowl player has been a vocal leader of the Patriots defense since joining the team.
