Patriots Sign Richard And Vollmer

The Patriots sign two more of their Draft picks, one officially, the other to be announced later. Patriots Insider confirmed both signings prior to their announcements.

According to a league source, Georgia Tech defensive lineman Darryl Richard reached an agreement with the New England Patriots on Wednesday. Today, the team confirmed the news. Richard officially signed a multi-year deal. Richard was selected by the Patriots in the seventh round (234th overall) of April's Draft.

Reports of Sebastian Vollmer's impending deal have since been confirmed. Vollmer's representatives told PatriotsInsider.com a deal is all set; it only needs to be confirmed and announced.

"We are sending the contract to them [today]. It should be announced tomorrow."

The Patriots selected Vollmer in the second round (58th overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-8, 315-pound offensive tackle began his career as a tight end before moving to tackle where he earned all conference honors as a senior.

Vollmer's addition to the list of those reaching agreements is a good sign that the team is making progress in getting all of their picks into camp on time. Typically the late round picks sign before the top players. In New England's case the team traded down out of the first round twice, picking up extra picks along way. Vollmer was selected by the Patriots with their original second round pick (26th of round two)
