Patriots Add A Pair On Monday

FOXBORO -- The New England Patriots added two more names to their practice squad Monday. TE Jeron Mastrud and RB Javarris James. In addition reports indicate that LB Tyrone McKenzie will also join the practice squad.

The New England Patriots announced the signing of RB Javarris James to the team's practice squad Monday. The 6-foot-215-pound back was originally signed by the Colts as an undrafted rookie out of the University of Miami on April 30, 2010. James finished his college career with 2,162 yards and 18 touchdowns. He lettered all four seasons with the Hurricanes.

TE Jeron Mastrud joined the Patriots on Monday, working out with the team's tight ends at practice. The 6-foot-6, 263-pound rookie wore No. 84 during the session. Mastrud was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in April as an undrafted rookie. He was a team captain at Kansas State and appeared in 48 games, including 26 consecutive starts.

In addition to the announcement that both players have been signed by the team, sources indicate that LB Tyrone McKenzie, the team's third round pick in 2009, has also been signed to the team's practice squad. No announcement has been made on McKenzie just yet, but news of his return can been seen as bonus for the team's paper-thin depth at the linebacker position.
