Raiders add more free agents, set for minicamp

The Oakland Raiders have signed three more rookie free agents, the team announced today. Wide receivers Charles Pauley of San Jose State and Willie Quinnie of Alabama-Birmingham and fullback Chad Pierson of the University of Southern California will all be present when Raider draft choices and rookie free agents assemble for the team's rookie minicamp this weekend.


Pauley was the Spartans' top pass receiver and returner in his two years with the team. He began his collegiate career at Citrus Junior College. In 25 games, he made 101 catches for 1,473 yards (14.6 avg) and five touchdowns. His 101 catches rank ninth on the school's career-record list while his 1,473 yards rank 10th. Pauley also returned 50 kickoffs for 1,441 yards (28.8 avg) and a pair of scores. His 1,441 yards rank fourth on the Spartans' all-time record list while his 28.8-yard average is second on the school's career-record chart. He added 355 yards on 37 punt returns (9.6 avg) and 188 yards with three touchdowns on 46 carries (4.1 avg). His 3,457 all-purpose yards rank fourth in school annals.

Pierson was used mainly as a blocking fullback and on special teams as a senior in 2002. Overall in 2002, while appearing in 10 games, he caught 6 passes for 56 yards (9.3 avg.). Pierson was a four-year letterman at USC and finished his college career with 143 yards on 36 carries with one score and caught 21 passes for 270 yards with three touchdowns.


The Oakland Raiders will conduct a three-day rookie minicamp beginning this Friday, May 2 through Sunday, May 4.

The Raider selections from last weekend's NFL Draft-along with undrafted rookie free agents and selected first-year free agents-will be on hand to participate in drills and media sessions during this minicamp.

The minicamp- to consist of four practice sessions; one on both Friday and Sunday and two on Saturday.-will take place at the team's facility in Alameda.
