To that end, Palmer took the majority of reps with Oakland's first-team offense in practice and also got extra work in during individual drills.
Coming on the heels of his two quarters of work in relief during Sunday's 28-0 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Palmer is infinitely ahead of where he was a week ago when he arrived from Cincinnati.
"There's a lot more good than people outside this building would recognize that we'll learn from and improve on and move on from," Palmer told reporters Tuesday.
All indications are that Palmer will be the Raiders starter when the team returns from the bye to host Denver in the third of three consecutive home games. Head coach Hue Jackson has been putting in extra time with Palmer, who is also expected to work out privately at the team's facilities along with some of the Raiders wide receivers, tight ends and running backs in an effort to improve his timing with the entire group.
The break comes at a good time for the Raiders. Running back Darren McFadden was on crutches earlier this week with an ankle injury while middle linebacker Rolando McClain was wearing a protective walking boot because of his own ankle injury.
Both should be fine for the home game with Denver.
The news is also encouraging on kicker Sebastian Janikowski, who sat the loss to Kansas City with a sore hamstring. Jackson said he expects Janikowski to be fine, which is why the team released Dave Rayner earlier in the day.
Fullback Marcel Reece practiced for the first time in several weeks and should be available to play against the Broncos.
