Jaws ranks Raiders QB Matt Schaub

ESPN's quarterback guru Ron Jaworski ranks the projected starting quarterbacks every season and his latest offseason rankings were released on Monday.

Last year, when Jaws released his countdown, Raiders projected starting quarterback Matt Flynn was listed dead last amongst starting quarterbacks. Problem was, Flynn didn't even win the starting job as the athletic Terrelle Pryor beat him out in training camp.

Neither Pryor nor Flynn are still on the team after Flynn was released midseason and Pryor was traded to Seattle before the draft.

Meanwhile, Reggie McKenzie and the front office chose to trade for veteran Matt Schaub and draft Fresno State's Derek Carr in the second round.

With the Raiders looking to take time to develop Carr, Jaws ranked the Raiders with Schaub penciled in as the starter, which is a safe bet at this point.

Jaws ranked Schaub as the 22nd best quarterback in the league this year, just below the Redskins' Robert Griffin III and just above Miami's Ryan Tannehill.

As for the other quarterbacks in the AFC West, Kansas City's Alex Smith is ranked 17th, San Diego's Philip Rivers was 7th and Denver's Peyton Manning led all of the competition by being ranked first.

Former Raiders starting quarterback Carson Palmer was ranked above Schaub at 20th overall.

The Raiders will be hoping that Schaub can improve from his rough year last season and prove Jaws wrong in his rankings.
