Predicting the Raiders 53-man roster

The Raiders have until Saturday at 1:00 p.m. PST to make their final cutdown to get to the NFL-mandated 53-man roster.

The following is the best prediction of who the Raiders will keep based on what I have seen throughout training camp and preseason.

Quarterback (3):

Matt Schaub Derek Carr Matt McGloin

Running back (5):

Maurice Jones-Drew Darren McFadden Latavius Murray Marcel Reece Jamize Olawale

Wide receiver (5):

James Jones Rod Streater Denarius Moore Andre Holmes Brice Butler

Tight end (3):

David Ausberry Mychal Rivera Brian Leonhardt

Offensive line (8):

Donald Penn Gabe Jackson Khalif Barnes Stefen Wisniewski Austin Howard Menelik Watson Kevin Boothe Matt McCants

Specialists (3):

Sebastian Janikowski Marquette King Jon Condo

Defensive line (8):

Justin Tuck LaMarr Woodley C.J. Wilson Antonio Smith Justin “Jelly” Ellis Pat Sims Shelby Harris Stacy McGee

Linebacker (6):

Sio Moore Khalil Mack Kaluka Maiava Miles Burris Nick Roach Kaelin Burnett

Safety (4):

Charles Woodson Tyvon Branch Jonathan Dowling Usama Young

Cornerback (7):

Tarell Brown Carlos Rodgers Neiko Thorpe Keith McGill TJ Carrie Taiwan Jones Chimdi Chekwa

53rd player:

The final roster spot may in fact go to running back Jeremy Steward because of the special teams ability he offers. That would give the Raiders six running backs, but they do like his special teams experience. They may also choose to pick someone up at another position via the waiver wire once everyone else makes their cuts as well.
