Raiders claim DE Benson Mayowa

General manager Reggie McKenzie announced Sunday that the Oakland Raiders have claimed defensive end Benson Mayowa via waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.

The 6-foot-3, 252-pound defensive was originally signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in May 2013. Mayowa only appeared in the first two games for Seattle last season before being inactive for the remaining 14 regular season games and three postseason contests. Mayowa recorded two tackles in his two games played.

Before signing with the Seahawks as an UNFA, he played in 45 career games at the University of Idaho and collected 67 tackles, 11 sacks, 11 forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

To make room on the roster, the Raiders have waived/injured linebacker Kaelin Burnett. Burnett had become a solid special teams player and had a solid training camp playing as a reserve linebacker.
