Maurice Jones-Drew has hand injury

Raiders starting running back Maurice Jones-Drew missed practice on Wednesday with a hand injury, according to head coach Dennis Allen.

Allen said that Jones-Drew is listed as day-to-day with the hand injury which he suffered during the Raiders season opener against the New York Jets.

Allen did not mention if he would be available on Sunday as the Raiders open up their home schedule against the Houston Texans.

If MJD cannot go, it will likely be Daren McFadden starting with second-year running back Latavius Murray backing him up.

Jones-Drew struggled to find any rushing room against the Jets stout defensive line, finishing with just 11 rushing yards on nine attempts.

We'll keep an eye on the star running back's status as the week progresses.

In other injury news: cornerback Chimdi Chekwa came back to practice but was limited. Starting middle linebacker Nick Roach was at practice but has still not been cleared for contact. He will continue to go through the protocol leading up to Sunday's game.
