One player that has excelled on the field is rookie linebacker Khalil Mack, earning high praise from Pro Football Focus.
Khaled Elsayed of PFF ranked all 32 first-round selections in May’s draft, including Mack. While Mack has earned some critique from some of Raider Nation throughout the season for not having any sacks, Mack has applied pressure to the quarterback and has shown great production in the running game, according to PFF.
PFF currently ranks Mack the highest out of all 32 rookies drafted in the first round, giving him a grade of +16.6 in his 395 snaps.
This is what PFF says in their analysis of the rookie linebacker:
“Zero sacks and so Mack is struggling right? Wrong. Mack has positive marks rushing the passer where his 16 combined hits and hurries suggest a sack is coming soon. However, its the run game where he’s really really starred. A truly promising start.”
Mack has appeared in all six games, and racked up 37 tackles and one pass defensed.
It’s a productive beginning to what will hopefully be a great career for the young rookie Raider. If he continues doing what he is doing, the sacks will come.
