On This Day In History

On this day in history… November 17, 2013, the Oakland Raiders defeated the Texans 28-23 in Houston to bring the Silver & Black to 4-6 on the season.

Dennis Allen and his Raiders would not win another game that year. In fact, the Raiders haven’t won a game since, going 0-16 and making it exactly 365 days since the Raiders last felt the joy of a victory.

Then undrafted rookie quarterback Matt McGloin got his first start of his career, throwing for 197 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Rod Streater was his top receiver for the day, hauling in six receptions for 84 yards and one touchdown.

Running back Rashad Jennings led the Raiders offense with 150 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries. To put it into perspective, the most rushing yards a Raider has had this year was 80 yards when Darren McFadden carried the ball 14 times in week six against the San Diego Chargers.

The Raiders hope that this current losing streak doesn’t last any longer, but face a tough Kansas City Chiefs team on a short week. The game will be on Thursday Night Football at O.Co Coliseum.
