Raiders elevate TE Scott Simonson

Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie announced Saturday that the team as activated tight end Scott Simonson to the active roster from the practice squad.

Simonson originally signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in May, but was waived at the end of training camp before signing to the practice squad just two days later.

In his collegiate career at Assumption, he appeared in 36 games (31 starts) and accumulated 104 receptions for 1,537 yards and 15 touchdowns.

In order to make room for Simonson, the Raiders placed rookie safety Jonathan Dowling on the reserve/injured list. Dowling was the Raiders' seventh-round pick (247th overall) in the 2014 NFL Draft, before appearing in seven games for the Raiders and posting three tackles.
