Khalil Mack D.R.O.Y. watch

Rookie linebacker Khalil Mack has been a consistent force to be reckoned with this entire season, making Defensive Rookie of the Year talk reasonable.

Mack has started all 13 games of the season thus far, posting 69 tackles, three sacks, three passes defensed and one forced fumble according to coaches’ statistics.

On top of all of that, he is at the top or near the top of many lists, among some impressive names.

According to Pro Football Focus, the young linebacker (32.6 overall PFF rating) is the second-ranked 3-4 linebacker in the NFL, only behind Kansas City Chiefs’ linebacker Justin Houston (39.2).

Of Mack’s 62 unofficial tackles, 43 of them were for a loss or within three yards of the line of scrimmage. He is also currently ranked first among NFL defensive players with 10 “stuffs” - tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage, according to STATS, INC. Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is second in the league with 9.5.

The 23-year-old linebacker has also been dominant against opponents’ run game, logging the top Pro Football Focus run defense rating for a 3-4 outside linebacker and run stop percentage. Mack has 40 tackles against the run, including 10 tackles for a loss.
